Establishment of the Section

Tlabung Section was formerly part of the Lungsen Section. As passed by the Lunglei District Conference to establish Tlabung as an independent section, 'Tlabung Section' was officially established on March 3, 2006, separating from Lungsen Section to become a distinct section under Lunglei District. The very first Conference was held on March 5, 2006, at Tlabung Local, presided over by District Superintendent Rev. Zalawma, alongside Lungsen Section Pastor K. Lalchamliana and Lungsen Section Secretary Evan. LH. Lalchhandama. At the time of its formation, three local churches within Tlabung town—Tlabung, Zodin, and Chawnpui—were placed under Tlabung Section, bringing the total membership across the section to approximately 300 members.

Pastor Quarters

When Tlabung Section was newly established, Pastor B. Kamliana served as the first Sectional Pastor. Since there was no official Pastor's residence initially, a house was rented while plans were initiated to acquire property. The current site for the Pastor Quarters was purchased for Rs. 42,000/-. As the acquired plot was somewhat small for construction, neighboring landowner Pu Vanlalnghaka of Tlabung generously donated an additional portion of his land, for which the section remains deeply grateful. Before beginning construction, Rev. Ralkapkunga Khiangte laid the foundation stone, and active construction began on June 17, 2013, under the leadership of Pastor R. Lalsangzuala. During the initial phase, there was minimal financial assistance from the District, so the project relied on the section's internal funds and dedicated efforts. Through the foresight and dedication of the Sectional Pastor, a structure measuring 24"x36" was designed, and a slab measuring 30"x42" was cast. Construction continued earnestly, allowing Pastor K. Vanlalhruaia and his family to move in on September 30, 2015, and the residence was officially dedicated and inaugurated by Rev. Ralkapkunga Khiangte on October 18, 2015. After using the lower space directly beneath the slab for some time, funds amounting to Rs. 2,00,000 were provided by the District during Pastor R. Lalremsiama's tenure to roof the upper floor. Later in 2024, during Pastor Muanpuia Colney's tenure, the District granted an additional Rs. 6,00,000 to complete the upper structure and renovate the ground floor. With these funds, construction was successfully completed and the lower floor was extensively remodeled, providing the section with an honorable Pastor Quarters.

Sectional Pastors

As mentioned earlier, Pastor B. Kamliana was the first Pastor of Tlabung Section upon its establishment. Following his term, Rev. PC. Doliana was appointed as a re-employed Pastor to oversee the section for six months. Listed below are the Pastors who have served Tlabung Section along with their respective tenures:

Sectional Activities & Initiatives

To strengthen local churches within the section, sectional leaders conduct regular visitation trips across local congregations. In line with District initiatives, efforts are continuously made to plant churches in unreached areas. During Pastor R. Lalremsiama's tenure, an outreach campaign was launched in Dinthar, where God blessed the section with a vibrant new church, bringing the total number of local churches in Tlabung Section to four (4). The section, through its main committee and departments, continuously strives to address section needs, including Pastor Quarters requirements. Thanks to the support of the District Mission Department, a Home Missionary is currently employed at Dinthar, residential quarters have been completed, and ongoing efforts are being made for the expansion of God's Kingdom.
