About TAWIPUI SECTION
History and Establishment of Tawipui Section
Tawipui Section has existed since before the reorganization of Southern Mizoram, originally established during the era when administrative units were designated as "Circles" prior to becoming "Sections". At that time, it was known as the Mualcheng Section. When Pastor Ralianga was transferred from Mualcheng to Tarpho, villagers were grouped and relocated due to the insurgency in Mizoram. During this period, as Mualcheng South was grouped into Tawipui, Mualcheng was integrated into Tawipui, leading to the name "Tawipui Section". While the Pastor resided at Mualcheng South, no separate Pastoral Quarters was provided by the church.
Because Tawipui was situated along the main highway, during Pastor Chuauruma's tenure in 1977, it was proposed that the Pastor reside in Tawipui South, re-establishing the unit as Tawipui Section. However, due to the small church membership in Tawipui South (only about 10 members), Tawipui North-II was officially established as the Section Headquarters. In 1983, a private residential property belonging to Pu Vankunga was purchased for Rs. 2,500 to serve as the Sectional Pastor's Quarters. The existing structure was dismantled and rebuilt utilizing reused materials, marking the first official Pastoral Quarters.
The current Pastoral Quarters was constructed in 2009 during the tenure of Rev. VL. Hmuaka, measuring 36x24 feet. Through section-wide initiatives, it has been continuously upgraded and includes a Committee Room on the lower floor. Counting the initial purchased structure and the present building, quarters have been constructed twice. Early pastors oversaw the section from their home villages; Rev. Ralianga also supervised it alongside Bualpui 'Ng'. The first pastor, Pastor Zahlira, originated from Khuanghlum village and later relocated to Mualcheng.
