SOME KEY INITIATIVES :-
- Faith Promise : This is an ongoing initiative of the District Missions Department. Faith Promises are made during the Sunday morning service at the District Mission Conference. According to the resolution of the 2019 District Missions Department Conference, which decided that 'it should now be held in every Local Church within Lunglei District,' the Pastorate Missions leaders took the initiative, and Faith Promises are now held in every Local Church. Since all the proceeds collected from these Faith Promises are used for the remuneration of our Home Missionaries in Lunglei District, it serves as a direct way through which we support our Home Missionaries.
- Handful of Rice Offerings (Buhfaitham) : Resolution No. 16 of the 160th District Board in 2010 resolved that this offering should go to the District Missions Department, and since then, it has become the main source of funds for the District Missions Department. Two-thirds of the Handful of Rice offerings submitted by each local church goes to the General Missions Department, while the remaining one-third is matched 100% by the Main Church (Kohhranpui), making it the primary financial source for the District Missions Department. Through this, the Lunglei District Missions Department sustains its operations.
- Partner In Mission (PIM) : Initiated by the General Missions about ten years ago, this is a contribution scheme for supporting Missionaries under the General Missions, open to individuals or groups (Rs 1,000/- monthly or Rs 12,000/- annually). All collections received through this scheme are fully remitted to the General Missions.
- General Target / District Target : This target comes from the General level. The District Board distributes it to every pastorate (bial), and the pastorate further distributes it to the local churches. Hence, the pastorate and local churches usually refer to it as the District Target. However, in the District Treasurer's report, it is reported as the General Target. All collections submitted by local churches under this are remitted entirely to the General level. As it is meant for the maintenance and operations of the General Missions Department, the District Missions receives no share from it.
- Outreach / Contributions to General Missions : Beyond submitting the General Target and Handful of Rice offerings, the General level frequently assigns Projects to us. These Projects include, for example, Churches, Pastor Quarters, land plots, etc. In such endeavors, we in Lunglei District, right from the time of our pioneer leaders, have contributed immensely. By the grace of God, our contributions and works in these areas are almost too numerous to count.
- Initiatives within Lunglei District : As mentioned earlier, the Lunglei District Missions Department has taken significant strides in spreading the Gospel and continues to do so. It has employed numerous Home Missionaries in the past and continues to employ them. Additionally, it has actively conducted outreach by sending out Crusade Teams. Well-equipped Missionary Quarters are continually being established across Home Mission Fields. We also regularly receive financial gifts, offerings, and equipment from dedicated individuals and groups, for which we are immensely grateful.
