ESTABLISHMENT OF THE DISTRICT

In 1984, during the tenure of Rev. HL. Ruata as District Pastor (equivalent to District Superintendent today), the 19th District Conference held on March 9–12, 1984 passed Resolution No. 1 to bifurcate the Haulawng District to accommodate church growth and create a new district named 'Chhipphir District'. As per its designation, Chhipphir village was officially designated as the District Headquarters. Geographic boundaries were defined as follows: bounded by the Mat River to the east, the Tlawng River to the west, Buangpui near Thenzawl to the north, and Haulawng to the south. Topographically, the area comprises two mountain ridges extending north to south, with the Vanva River flowing southward in between. The villages included within the district were Lungmawi, Bualpui V, Chhipphir, Zote S, Kanghmun S, Ramlaitui, Sekhum, and Mualthuam N. At the time of creation, the local churches with buildings were:

Chhipphir Local, Mualthuam Electric Local, Mualthuam Vengchhak Local, Sekhum Local, Ramlaitui Local, Kanghmun ‘S’ Local, and Lungmawi Local.

ACQUISITION OF PASTOR QUARTERS

Pastor F. Aihrima served as the first District Pastor. Rented accommodation at the residence of Pu PC. Sangmuana was initially utilized as the pastor's quarters. Search for a permanent quarters plot continued, and in 1984, an application was submitted to Village Council President Pu Rualchhinga of Chhipphir. The requested vacant land at the Sub-Centre was granted. Shortly thereafter, an Assam-type quarters was constructed and occupied by Pastor F. Aihrima.

During the ministry of Pastor H. Enmawia, the District Conference held at Kanghmun S Local resolved to relocate the District Headquarters from Chhipphir to Mualthuam 'N'. The existing quarters in Chhipphir was sold for Rs. 20,000, and the pastor's family moved to rented housing in Mualthuam 'N'. Shortly thereafter, the sold quarters in Chhipphir was repurchased for Rs. 23,560, and the pastor relocated back to Chhipphir on October 6, 1995.

Construction of the second quarters, built as an RCC structure, commenced on June 6, 2005 during the tenure of Rev. T. Aichhunga. The project received a District grant of Rs. 50,000 alongside Rs. 21,320 for roofing sheets. An additional Rs. 3,100 was sanctioned on January 5, 2006 for remaining roofing materials, along with Rs. 5,000 from the District for septic tank construction.

In 2024, nearly 20 Lakhs was received for reconstructing the quarters as an RCC structure. Members across the district and the host Chhipphir Local contributed extensive voluntary labor. The pastor's family currently resides in the newly built quarters. While a local church is yet to be established in Zote South village, members reside there. The Chhipphir District has produced numerous key ministers, including pastors and evangelists.
