About PANGZAWL SECTION

ESTABLISHMENT OF PANGZAWL SECTION UPC :

By Resolution No. 8 of the 5th South Mizoram District Board Meeting held on December 18, 1967, Pastor Ralianga's Section was divided into separate sections. Pastor Ralianga took charge of Hnahthial PPV (Protected Progressive Village), Pastor Lalthima was placed in charge of Pangzawl PPV, while Evan Rodawla served as Pastor i/c overseer for Cherhlun, Chawngtui, Ngharchhip, Bualpui, and Thingsai. During the 1st District Board Meeting of 1970 held at Hnahthial PPV, the section names were readjusted, and Pastor Lalthima's section was officially designated as Pangzawl Section.

In 1971, the 14th District Board Meeting re-adjusted the section divisions, placing Pangzawl Section back under Hnahthial Section once again.

When various villages—Lungmawi, Hnahchang, Khawngbawk, Thiltlang, Keltan, and Khuanghlum—were grouped together at Pangzawl in 1966, the UPC had been established in every village except Thiltlang and Keltan. Even after being grouped in Pangzawl, there were nearly 200 members continuously present. Throughout the insurgency period and regrouping phase, Pastor Lalthima served as the Section Pastor, and he also oversaw the Bungtlang Chhimveng UPC Local within his section. Section Leaders:

In accordance with the resolution of the 1985 District Conference to open two new sections, the 66th District Board Meeting (Resolution No. 4) resolved that Hnahthial Section be divided to inaugurate Pangzawl Section, and Rahsiveng Section be divided to inaugurate Bazar Section. On April 21, 1985, the new Pangzawl Section was inaugurated. Evangelist R. Lalrosanga was appointed as the Section Pastor and was directed to assume duties on April 16, 1985. It was resolved that Khawngbawk be designated as the Section Centre, covering Bungtlang to the north, Khawngbawk to the south, Lungmawi and Phaileng to the west, and Khuanghlum to the east. However, as the Phaileng Church preferred to be attached to Haulawng Section, the District Board approved their request, and they were transferred to Haulawng Section effective June 1, 1985.

The Section Chairman was Section Pastor R. Lalrosanga, and the District Board appointed Bro. Thasiama Sailo as the Section Secretary. It was initially decided that the Pangzawl Section Centre be located in Khawngbawk and that land owned by Pu Kapkunga be purchased for Rs. 10,000 to construct the Pastor's Quarters. Although passed in the 67th District Board Meeting, the purchase could not be finalized; upon reconsideration, Khuanghlum Local was chosen to serve as the Section Centre instead.

With the Section Centre established at Khuanghlum Local, land belonging to Pu Pc. Lalsiama was purchased for the Section Pastor's Quarters, which continues to be occupied to this day.

Following the re-opening of Pangzawl Section, the Section leadership has been as follows:
