Revival Committee

The District Revival Committee is a sub-committee under the United Pentecostal Church, Lunglei District, established fairly recently. The primary purpose of forming this Committee stems from the 2022 General Conference held at Pukpui, where the General Board of UPC North East India resolved that a spiritual revival movement should be launched across the church. Following this decision, UPC Lunglei District considered implementation steps, leading the District Board to place it on its official agenda. At the 205th District Board meeting (March 7–9, 2022), Resolution No. 21 initially proposed forming a Revival / Prayer Committee, but this proposal did not pass. Later, at the 207th District Board meeting on December 7, 2022, Resolution No. 18 recommended establishing the District Revival Committee, under which it was officially created. The initial leaders of the Committee were elected as follows: Chairman : Rev. C. Vanlalena (District Superintendent) Secretary : Evan. T. Lalzawmsanga (College Veng Local) Treasurer : Sis. Lalramkungi Pachuau (Venglai Local) On March 1, 2023, these leaders convened in the District Superintendent's Chamber to appoint additional colleagues, new Office Bearers, and Committee members as follows: Additional Office Bearers: Vice Chairman : Evan. Sangthuama (Headquarters Local) Asst. Secretary : Upa C. Lalramhluna (Venghlun Local) Committee Members: 1. Rev. C. Lalhriatpuia (Director, Missions Department, UPC Lunglei District) 2. Evan. Rohlupuia Thahlun (Theiriat Local) 3. Rbt. PC. Lalhnehzova (College Veng Local) In addition, District Secretary Rev. C. Lalrintluanga and Treasurer Rev. PC. Lalfakawma were appointed as Ex-Officio Committee Members. When Secretary Evan T. Lalzawmsanga was appointed as a Home Missionary to Zote South under the District Missions Department, the 212th District Board meeting on March 4, 2024 (Resolution No. 43) appointed Asst. Secretary Upa C. Lalramhluna (Venghlun Local) to replace him. Likewise, when Chairman Rev. C. Vanlalena was elected Director of the General Missions Department, the 213th District Board meeting on May 7, 2024 (Resolution No. 4) appointed Rev. R. Lalsangzuala (Theiriat Section Pastor) as the new Chairman. Furthermore, Evan Rohlupuia Thahlun stepped down as a Committee member due to his missionary assignment at Bualpui V, and Rbt. PC. Lalhnehzova declined his appointment. Consequently, during its 3rd meeting on July 7, 2023 (Resolution No. 3), the District Revival Committee appointed Upa R. Lalduhawma (Electric Veng Local) and Upa R. Lalthangmawia (Sazaikawn Local) as new members. Activities: To ensure systematic operations, the District Revival Committee has established proper guidelines. It aims to organize Crusades or Campings across various local churches within Lunglei District to promote spiritual awakening. The Committee sends ministry teams to these locations, providing travel expenses and financial assistance for essential needs rather than sending them unsupported. Local churches with fewer than 100 members organizing a Crusade or Camping receive a grant of ₹3,000 from the Committee. Because it was newly established, the Revival Committee was initially not widely known among churches. To introduce the Committee to the general membership, an inauguration service was held on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Lunglei Venglai Local. Revival services were conducted throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening sessions. On the same morning, all local churches were requested to include the District Revival Committee as a special prayer topic. Ministry: The District Revival Committee has organized Crusades in several local churches throughout Lunglei District, sending teams, assigning speakers, and offering financial assistance. These Crusades have been highly successful and spiritually fruitful, leading to significant spiritual growth. Currently, there are 14 Revival Speakers under the District Revival Committee who are dispatched across the District wherever requested.
