CHANMARI LOCAL HNAHTHIAL
(Formerly known as Chawngtui (H) Local)
Chanmari Local was formerly known as Chawngtui (H) Local. In 1968, the village of S. Chawngtui was grouped into Hnahthial due to political instability. During the year of grouping, as they did not have a church building yet, some members attended services at Tarpho (H) Local, which had been grouped a year earlier. On 20 February 1969, they occupied a church building, and from then on, Chawngtui (H) Hnahthial was established.

Church building history:
The church building has been constructed 4 times, and the 4th building was inaugurated on 17 December 2005 with a grand feast. In 2008, local area names in Hnahthial Town were changed, and Chawngtui locality was renamed 'Chanmari'. The church name was also changed from Chawngtui (H) to 'Chanmari Local Hnahthial'. A 5th church building was constructed using RCC. The current church building was constructed at a cost of around ₹40 Lakhs, measuring 54 feet in length and 30 feet in width.
At the time of establishment, there were over 300 members. After the instability settled, several members moved back to South Chawngtui village, and on 24.2.1996, several members left to join Mizoram UPC. Consequently, many church documents were lost.
Current status:
There are currently 148 members in Hnahthial Chanmari Local (2025 report). They have a good church building, which is expected to be inaugurated soon. Currently, there are 4 Elders (Upa) and 3 Church Workers.
