About HEADQUARTERS LOCAL
Headquarters Local, Chandmary Lunglei was separated from Rahsiveng, Lunglei Church on 15 January 1967. Prior to this separation, church members from various localities of Lunglei gathered together at Rahsiveng Church. The members residing in Chandmary felt it was appropriate and time to make preparations to conduct separate church services. On 30.7.1965, the first Church Committee meeting held at Khama's residence passed a resolution to submit an application to the Rahsiveng Church.
The Committee members present were:
(1) Khama (2) Lalzaruaia (3) Rotlaia (4) Laiveta (5) Biala (6) Lalsikhupi (7) Sapbawihi.
In this committee meeting, they resolved their desire to have a separate church building. Although they desired and attempted to hold separate services in Chanmari, separation was not immediately permitted. They continued to celebrate Christmas 1966 and New Year 1967 together joyfully at Rahsiveng. Around this time, they learned that Pu Chrismasthanga of Chanmari was moving to Aizawl and was willing to sell his land plot in Chanmari for Rs. 10,000/- (Ten Thousand). Consequently, the present Headquarters Church site, which was Pu Chrismasthanga's property, was purchased for Rs. 10,000/-, even though the existing structure appeared somewhat old. From 11.1.1967, functioning semi-independently, a meeting was held at Upa Lalchungnunga's residence to plan the inauguration of the Chandmary Church building, resolving that Evan. Hrangmawia would inaugurate the very first church building. The congregation officially established themselves, and on 15.1.1967, an inaugural service was held for the building used as their church, with the programme prepared as follows:
| Chairman | : Upa Lalchungnunga |
| Inaugurated by | : Evan. Hrangmawia |

As time went on, the church building was reconstructed/renovated three (3) times. For a period of time, Farm Veng and Electric Veng gathered together under Chandmary Church; Farm Veng separated on 3.11.1988, and Electric Veng also separated on 4.11.1990. Presently, it has become a large Local and a very stable church. The local previously referred to as Chanmari Local was renamed 'Headquarters Local' following a request submitted by Chandmary Local to the District Board in 1993. The church progressed and grew steadily (however, we deeply regret that the Minute books from 1967-1974 could not be found). The early leaders and those who loved the church up to the present include:
| Chairman | : Evan. H. Rotlaia (1967) |
| Secretary | : Upa Lalchungnunga (1967) |
| Treasurer | : Evan LT. Zauva (1967) |
