About RAMLAITUI LOCAL
HISTORY OF RAMLAITUI CHURCH FORMATION
Ramlaitui village is located along the mountain ridge between Lunglei and Thenzawl, roughly 60 km from Lunglei towards Thenzawl. The village comprises approximately 100 households and falls under the Chhipphir District jurisdiction.
As documented on page 110 of the Lunglei District U.P.C. History Book, a United Pentecostal Church previously existed in Ramlaitui village with its own church building. However, during the political insurgency period, their church structure was burned down twice by army forces. Following the 1968 regrouping of villages to Mualthuam ‘N’, few UPC members remained upon returning, leading to the temporary dissolution of the local church.
Over time, inward migration brought church members back, reaching 18 members by the year 2000. On January 21, 2001, District Pastor C. Lalhriatpuia officially organized the congregation as a Preaching Point, appointing the following initial leaders:
- Chairman : Bro. C. Kapzama
- Secretary : Bro. P.C. Vanlalthanga
- Treasurer : Bro. Zoramlawma
On January 6, 2005, by decision of the District Board, the Preaching Point was officially elevated to a full Local Church. New church leadership was appointed under District Pastor Aichhunga:
- Chairman : Elder P.C. Rosanga
- Secretary : Elder C. Kapzama
- Treasurer : Sist. R. Lalrimawii
- Tithe Collector : Elder P.C. Vanlalthanga
- Treasurer BFT : Elder P.C. Rosanga
CHURCH BUILDING AND DEVELOPMENT
Although established as a local church, they lacked a worship building. Through generous contributions across various church entities, support was provided:
- From District Hqrs. : Roofing tin sheets and Rs. 2,500.00
- Pukpui District : 30 asbestos tile sheets
- Mualthuam Vch Local : 6 kg nails
- Venghlun Local : Large traditional drum (Khuangpui)
- Chhipphir District : Rs. 2,500.00
- Collegeveng Local : Church bell
- Rahsiveng Local PMD : New brass bell worth Rs. 750
- Rev. Saithanga Venghlun : 2 dozen drinking cups
- Sist. Chhandami & Rimawii : Tea serving tray
In addition, Thenzawl PYD assisted with site excavation. A 3-day work camp (April 3–5, 2002) conducted by members across Chhipphir District completed a 24 ft by 15 ft church building with asbestos walls, tin roof, and concrete floor, consuming 132 volunteer labor shifts. On March 13, 2004, District Pastor Aichhunga dedicated the building in a joyous service featuring attendee fellowship and traditional feasts.
Following severe wind damage in 2013, the structure was repaired with District support. Later, a centrally located residential plot owned by Elder PC. Vanlalthanga was acquired for Rs. 4,00,000 for new church development.
