About RALVAWNG LOCAL

History of Church Establishment :

In 1962, Pastor J. Laltluanga and his team conducted ministry. On October 14, 1962, they held a separate worship service at the residence of Church Worker Hrangliana. The church membership reached over 120. The church leaders during that period were:

Elders : Rualkhuma (L), Laivunga (L), Valkawnga
Workers : C. Taivela, Lalawma, Darnawta (L), Bukpheka (L), Hrangliana (L), Chalchhunga, Sawiluaia.

A church building measuring 36 feet in length and 24 feet in width was constructed using traditional wattle-and-daub (Maurap). However, due to the political disturbance in Mizoram on March 1, 1966, the villagers were regrouped to Zobawk, and consequently, the church could no longer continue in Ralvawng for a period of time.

Re-establishment of the Church :

During the period at Old Ralvawng, Elder Pc. Lalthanliana moved up to reside there as a teacher from Theiriat. Around November 1989, during harvest season when the District PYD was newly formed, Evangelist Lallianzuala (father of Pastor Rochungnunga) visited the area. Upon his arrival, since Elder Pc. Lalthanliana's family had stayed at their farm for the harvest, he stayed temporarily at Pu Zualbawnga's residence. On this trip, he was accompanied by Bro. Varparha. In the following year, 1990, his family relocated up there and stayed throughout the year. In 1991, as the District Missions Board resolved to station him for ministry in Lungchem, he could no longer continue residing in Ralvawng. During their tenure, various locals conducted rotational visits, with people visiting from Chanmari, Pukpui, Theiriat, College Veng, and Zotlang. Evangelist Lallianzuala stayed for about a year.

In 1991, the residents of Ralvawng relocated down to Mauhlam (mostly to New Ralvawng). Following this, various individuals were engaged; Deacon Pc. Zion Rammawia was engaged by Theiriat District. He served in 2010 but could not complete his tenure as he was recruited as a Missionary under the General Missions Department (he is now a Pastor). Subsequently, Bro. Pc. Lalhmunsiama (2010-2011) served (later joining the General Missions), followed by Bro. Saizamliana Sailo from Lungdai S (2012-2013), Bro. Laldawngliana from Sekhum (2014), Bro. Biaklala (2015), Bro. Hmingthansanga (2016), and Bro. Lalhnema (2017), who all resided and served there. Deacon PC. Laldingliana also served throughout 2024. All of these individuals were engaged by the District. Starting from 2025, Evan T. Laltlawmlova is currently serving for the first time as an appointee of the District Missions Department.

Lalhmunsiama (Evangelist) as Secretary, Sister Maria Lalzirtluangi as Treasurer, and Elder Pc. Lalthanliana as PRZ Treasurer. Brother Rengsawma and others served as church workers. During the tenure of Bro. Pc. Lalhmunsiama in 2010, the church building was constructed.
