About TAWIPUI S PREACHING POINT

Tawipui S is the southern locality situated after descending along the main road of Tawipui village, located along the road to Lawngtlai.

Although the people of Tawipui S village had previously heard the name of UPC, they were completely unfamiliar with its practices and history. On one occasion, upon experiencing a spiritual touch, Pu V. Paliana suddenly became UPC. He did not leave the Baptist Church, yet in his entire self, he firmly believed he was UPC. Neither by his own deliberate choice nor by conscious decision, from October 8, 1957, without even leading his wife and children, he became UPC entirely on his own. Shortly thereafter, he received baptism. He remained alone in solitude, but gradually, additional members joined him over time. In 1979, the Bial Centre was shifted from Mualcheng S to Tawipui S. The church membership also grew to around 30 to 40 members. In 1982, the Bial Centre (Pastor Quarters) was relocated once again to Tawipui N-II.

Before owning a church building, they used the home of Pu V. Paliana for worship services. As they were few in number, there was no need to appoint designated leaders, and the family of Pu V. Paliana labored tirelessly. Together with the family of Pu Vanlalsanga, they put forth their utmost effort to care for the Church.

Construction of the Church Building :

The church building has been constructed three times; the first was built using bamboo and traditional materials (Maurap). The second church building was constructed with dimensions of 27 x 15 feet. The congregation exerted their maximum effort, sawing and gathering timber to erect an Assam-type structure (sawn timber, plaster, and tin roof). Financial assistance of Rs. 4,000/- was also received from the District.

For the construction of the third church building, funds were raised by submitting an appeal at the Tawipui District Conference. Financial aid of Rs. 1,50,000/- was received from the District Church headquarters. The pillars and beams were cast in RCC, and it was roofed and constructed with tin sheets and tiles. On April 8, 2022, Rev. H. Rothuama officially inaugurated it. With hopes for the continual growth of the church, between 2018 and 2020, through the initiative of the Tawipui District Church, Bro. Lalnghakliana of Luangmual Lunglei was engaged to serve as an Evangelist.

From the beginning of 2023, Tawipui S Local was designated as a Preaching Point, and a full local church was not formed. In 2024, the District Missions Department sent a missionary field outreach for three months. Continuous efforts are being maintained to re-establish the local church.

Tawipui South Preaching Point currently has 15 members (as per the 2025 report).
