HISTORY OF THE CHURCH

Initially, members worshipped together at New Lungrang Local (now Lungrang South Local). As the village and local areas expanded, the distance to the church became inconveniently far for residents living near the Chawngte road exit. Hoping for future growth, a formal request to establish a separate local church was submitted to the New Local Church Board. The board approved the request, and separate worship services commenced on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at the residence of Brother K. Biaktluanga (the current Local Chairman).

The application for separate local status was subsequently forwarded to the District level. At that time, the congregation consisted of 10 families comprising 45 members. Rev. R. Lalrosanga, District Superintendent, visited Lungrang, and on June 17, 2011, at 7:30 AM, a dedication service was conducted through prayer, led by the New Lungrang Local Church Board and Pastor K. Lalchhuansanga of Chawngte Pastorate. At 9:00 AM on the same day, the church leaders for the 2011–2012 term were officially formed.

Church Building Construction

During the establishment of the church, financial assistance of Rs. 15,00,000/- was provided by the District for church construction. The congregation officially moved into the new church building in September 2011. The land for the church was generously donated by Upa K. Biaktluanga.

In 2024, initiatives were undertaken to construct an RCC church building, supported by a construction grant of Rs. 4,00,000/- from the District. Occupancy of the new building is anticipated by 2025. Despite being a small congregation, members continuously work together with utmost dedication according to their capacity.
