About HAURUANG LOCAL
HISTORY OF HAURUANG LOCAL
Before the church was established in Hauruang, Bro. Denghulha had already been baptized in the name of Jesus in 1966, making him the first person to receive baptism here. As there were no other believers of the same faith, he attended the Baptist Church. During this time, Pi Nubiali (mother of Pu Hrangmawia, Rahsiveng) frequently visited Hauruang to see her daughter Thanzauvi, the wife of Pu Denghulha, and zealously rendered service at the Baptist Church to the best of her ability. Although she did not occupy the pulpit, she proclaimed the Word of God as best as she could; however, their Church Elder Pu Biakkunga eventually forbade her from speaking further, so she could no longer have speaking opportunities.
When civil disturbance occurred and grouping of villages took place, Hauruang served as a Grouping Centre; consequently, together with those who migrated from Vanhne, Thuampui, Runtung, and Pachang, the Hauruang Church was officially established on December 16, 1969. At that time, the church membership reached around 300. The key leaders and pioneers behind the establishment of this church were:
Chairman : Elder Liankunga
Secretary : Evan C Hrangkhuma
Treasurer : Bro Thansanga
Evan Hmingthanga
Elder Lianhranga
At the inception of the church, there was no church building initially, so services were held at the house of Elder Liankunga. In the same founding year of 1969, steps were taken immediately to build a church structure; with enthusiastic members and active leaders, the church building was completed in a short time. As the church building was constructed using bamboo matting, the current structure in use represents the fifth building. At present, efforts are underway to construct a larger and better church building.
