As resolved by the 1993 District Conference to separate certain local churches from Bunghmun Section and Sertlangpui Section to open a new section, Rev. Saithanga Sailo, the District Secretary at that time, inaugurated the Thenhlum Section on 01.04.1993 and conducted the Pastor induction service. He was accompanied by Rev. CS. Pachhunga, District Sunday School Director. The local churches under the jurisdiction of Thenhlum Section upon its inauguration were:

3. Lungchem
4. Tuisenchhuah
5. Thenhlum

Thenhlum was designated as the District Centre. Pastor MS Dawngliana was the first District Pastor.

PASTOR QUARTERS:

Shortly after the establishment of Thenhlum Section, construction of the Pastor Quarters began and was completed for occupation in 1993. Several years later, in 2012, a new Quarters was constructed and completed within the same year. The District and Thenhlum local church contributed immense physical labor.

At present (2025), there are 3 local churches in Thenhlum Section, which are:

3. Lungchem Local

There are currently 393 church members within the Section.
